Zeldman to keynote at Museums and the Web 2004
Museums and the Web 2004, a prestigious international conference about culture and heritage on-line, will be held in Washington DC and Arlington Virginia, USA, between 31 March and 3 April 2004.
The conference will open with a keynote address by Jeffrey Zeldman of Happy Cog, and will close with a plenary session featuring Peter Samis, of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, on “Making Sense of Modern Art at Five.”

Coding for Easier Redesigns” (@ Macromedia.com)
Happy Cog’s Zeldman penned the lead article for the 17 October 2003 issue of Macromedia’s The Edge Newsletter. Although the words are new, the tune will be familiar to readers of Designing With Web Standards. “Coding for Easier Redesigns” explains how designers can make the transition to structural thinking, thereby saving their readers bandwidth and time, and saving themselves much future labor. July 2003: Jeffrey Zeldman’s Designing With Web Standards was released 15 May 2003; the first printing sold out in mid-June 2003. A second printing (first reprint) shipped in late June 2003, and a third printing is in the works.

Communication Arts Interactive Winners Announced
September 2002: Communication Arts has posted the winners of its Eighth Annual Interactive Competition along with Quicktime movies of the jurors’s comments. Happy Cog founder and creative chief Jeffrey Zeldman was among the jurors. In this Quicktime movie he discusses a “unity of vision” that made some sites stand out above all others.

Happy Cog teams with Hillman Curtis for Fox Searchlight
August 2002: Happy Cog has partnered with Hillman Curtis to redesign the flagship site of Fox Searchlight Pictures, a leading producer/distributor of independent films. Hillman Curtis is widely respected for its new media and broadcast work on behalf of Adobe, Intel, MTV, and other high profile accounts. Its founder (also, not coincidentally, named Hillman Curtis) is the author of two best-selling design books from New Riders. July 2002: Happy Cog and Frankensite have re-teamed to design and produce a commerce site and publishing system for The Marine Center, a leading distributor of rare, net-collected fish and corals. You’ve Got Ads: America Online Taps Cog
November 2001: In connection with its Charlotte Gray project for Warner Bros., Happy Cog was asked to design and develop an advertising effort to run on the America Online service.

30 October 2001: NYPL Style Guide, produced in cooperation with the Branch Libraries of The New York Public Library, is part of a larger effort to bring accessibility and standards compliance to The Library’s vast site.

28 May 2001: Click On @ The Library, Narrowing the Digital Divide
Promoting the Library’s efforts to bring computers and the web to all New Yorkers, regardless of income. The project was so successful that within weeks of the launch, the Library’s free classes were filled to capacity. See the Happy Cog Projects section for more.
